If you have read any of my posts, you know I am all about living my best life. I want to push myself outside of my comfort zone and continuously try new things. I want to say yes to new opportunities and experience as much of this world as possible. My birthday is just two months away, I’ll be 33. So I’ve decided to do a 35 by 35 list. A list of 35 things I want to do before I turn 35. I don’t want to limit myself to one year because I don’t want to stress myself out trying to figure out how to get everything done. But! If I am able to finish my list within the first year, then I will add more to it. Join me on this journey of completing these 35 things before I turn 35.
1. Take a Yoga Class
I’ve recently been trying my hand at yoga. It seems to really help with my stress levels and my neck and back pain. I watch Youtube videos for guidance, but I would love to participate in a class with an instructor who can correct my form.
2. Feed a Giraffe
I mean, who wouldn’t want to feed a giraffe? Just look at them.
3. Go to a drive in movie
4. Learn to change my oil
This one will accomplish two things. One, I will, obviously, learn how to change my own oil. But for the second, I will also be facing an irrational fear. Ever since I was little I have been scared of being underneath a vehicle. I am terrified of being crushed if the car slips.
5. Learn to change my tire.
This is something everyone should know how to do. I’ve been stranded more than once while waiting on someone to come and rescue me.
6. Ride in a hot air balloon
This is something I have always wanted to do. And not one of those fair rides where you stayed tethered to the ground. I want a true, up in the air, no ropes holding us down kind of ride.
7. Volunteer at an animal shelter
I have a passion for animals and have fostered more than one dog in my day. But I have never volunteered at the shelter. I get so emotional and want to bring home every single animal in the building. It’s hard for me to even walk in to a shelter. But I know how much these fur-babies need people to come in and spend some one on one time with them. So I have to push past my own emotions for the greater good.
8. Go on an animal safari
As an animal lover, this just sounds amazing.
9. Kayak in the ocean
I love kayaking. I have been kayaking in lakes, rivers, and natural springs, but never in the open ocean.
10. Snorkel in a cave
There is a cave in Florida called Devil’s Den, where you can climb down and snorkel in the natural spring. The pictures look beautiful and it’s a must on my list!
11. Jog an entire 5k
So far, I have only participated in one 5k. I finished, but thought I might die at the end! I was light headed and had to lay down. We finished is just over 43 minutes. We did a combination of walking and jogging. I want to increase my stamina and endurance enough to be able to complete the entire 3 mile journey in a jog.
12. Try Zumba
I have wanted to try this since college, but never worked up the nerve. Got to get out of that comfort zone!
13. Go Skiing
Here in Georgia, we don’t get very much snow. And when it does snow, it’s usually mixed with leaves and dirt. I think it would be amazing to fall on my butt in the soft deep snows of somewhere we can ski.
14. Paint in a park
My friends and I love to do paint nights. Inspired from the many painting shops around town, like Sips and Strokes. But I have never taken supplies to a public place and tried to paint something in front of me.
15. Horseback Riding on the beach
16. Read 100 books
17. Go on a road trip
18. Visit Cumberland Island
Cumberland Island is famous for its feral horses roaming free. I don’t imagine there are many places you can visit anymore to see wild horses.
19. Visit the 7 Natural Wonders of Georgia
20. Visit Europe
21. Attend a cooking class
22. Do a split
Never in my life have I been able to do a split. With my recent work in yoga, I have been getting more and more flexible. I WILL reach the point to where finally, in my life, I can do a full split.
23. Make my own pizza from scratch
24. Start a retirement account
25. Gamble in Las Vegas
26. See the Grand Canyon
27. Take a photography workshop
28. Build a farmhouse table
I am obsessed with farm house tables. They are so beautiful! And so expensive. Wouldn’t it mean so much more if I built it with my own two hands?
29. Decorate my house
I’ve lived in my house for nearly four years and still have not taken the time to truly decorate the walls. It’s well overdue.
30. Purge my belongings
While I don’t think I could ever truly be a minimalist, I would love to get rid of at least half my junk. Have “stuff” is so stressful, and most of it we don’t ever use. So why keep it? Let’s cleanse!
31. Milk a cow
No lie, I might die of joy whenever this happens. And it’s harder to find a dairy farm that will let some stranger milk a cow than you might think. Trust me, I ask everyone.
32. Get healthy
33. Watch AFI's top 100 movies
34. Take a self-defense class
35. Do a handstand
One of my best friends is the queen of handstands. She makes it look so easy. Every time I try, I look ridiculous and end up falling before I’ve really gotten my feet off of the ground. I cannot live my life without learning how to do this!
